Eligibility:
- You must be enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate program at an eligible institution. Because this is a need-based grant, your expected family contribution (EFC) must not exceed the maximum EFC set in any given year. The maximum EFC for the 2017–2018 academic year is 3,600.
- You must attend an eligible college/university in Maine. Students enrolled in NEBHE’s Tuition Break Program, the New England Regional Student Program, may also be eligible. Contact FAME or your financial aid office for more information.

- The Educators for Maine Program is a competitive, merit-based, forgivable loan program for Maine students pursuing careers in education or child care and planning to work in Maine after graduation.
Eligibility:
- Maine residents
- Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Graduating high school seniors, and undergraduate and graduate students accepted into postsecondary degree programs.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university. Graduate students must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Students must be pursuing initial certification as a teacher, including speech pathology, or child care provider qualifications.
Amount:
- Up to $3,000 annually, up to $12,000 total for undergraduate students
- Up to $2,000 annually, up to $8,000 total for graduate students
About:
- Certain foster children and adopted children/wards under subsidy from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) may receive a tuition waiver to a participating Maine public college/university.
Eligibility:
Eligible students must meet one of the following conditions at the time of graduation from high school or upon completion of HiSET/GED or equivalent:
- Be in Maine’s foster care program
- Be adopted from Maine’s foster care program and adoptive parent(s) receive a subsidy from Maine DHHS
- Be a minor ward of a permanency guardian and guardian(s) receive a subsidy from Maine DHHS

- The award is the actual amount of tuition waived at the college/university that you attend.
About:
- Children or spouses of Maine firefighters, law enforcement officers or emergency medical services providers killed in the line of duty may receive a tuition waiver to a participating Maine public college/university.
Eligibility:
Eligible students must meet one of the following conditions at the time of graduation from high school or upon completion of HiSET/GED or equivalent:
- The Maine resident child of an active Maine firefighter, emergency medical services provider, or full-time law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty, who was under 21 years of age at the time of the parent’s death; or
- The Maine resident spouse of an active Maine firefighter, emergency medical services provider, or full-time law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty
