To qualify, students must complete a Florida Financial Aid Application
- For Florida high school seniors who have high academic achievements and will enroll in a Florida school. There are different scholarships within the Bright Futures program listed below
Requirements (for any program):
- Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, as determined by the student's postsecondary institution.
- Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) no later than August 31 after high school graduation.
- Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalent from a Florida public high school or a registered Florida Department of Education (FDOE) private high school.
- Not have been found guilty of, or pled nolo contendere to, a felony charge, unless the student has been granted clemency by the Governor and Cabinet sitting as the Executive Office of Clemency.
- Be accepted by and enroll in a degree or certificate program at an eligible Florida public or independent postsecondary institution.
- Be enrolled for at least 6 non-remedial semester credit hours (or the equivalent in quarter or clock hours) per term.
- If not funded in the academic year immediately following high school graduation, apply within two years of high school graduation to have your award reinstated.
Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)
- Amount: Full tuition & fees + $300
- Eligibility: 3.5 GPA, test scores: 29/1290, 100 service hours
Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)
- Amount: $77 per credit hour ($212 at UF)
- Eligibility: 3.5 GPA, test scores: 26/1170, 75 service hours
Gold Seal Vocations Scholars (GSV)
- $48 per credit hour
- 3.0 GPA, 3 CTE credits w/ 3.5 GPA in those courses, 440 CR & M on old sat test, 17-19 ACT, 30 service hours
Gold Seal CAPE Scholars
- $77 per credit hour ($212 at UF)
- Merit scholarship for Florida high school graduates who receive recognition as a National Merit Scholar. Eligible scholars will receive an award equal to the institutional cost of attendance minus the sum of Bright Futures and the National Merit award. An initial application is not required.
- Requirements:
- Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalency (unless the student completes a home education program or earns a high school diploma from a non-Florida high school while living with a parent who is on military or public service assignment away from Florida).
- Be a 2017 National Merit Finalist.
- Have received: (a) a National Merit $2500 Scholarship, (b) a Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, or (c) a College-sponsored Merit Scholarship. NOTE: “Special” Corporate Scholarships do not qualify a student for the Benacquisto Scholarship.
- Enroll at an eligible Florida postsecondary institution during the Fall academic term following high school graduation.
- Be a Florida resident (residency status is determined by the institution) and enroll at an eligible, regionally accredited, public or independent Florida postsecondary institution.
- Enroll full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per term or quarter equivalency) in a baccalaureate degree program.
- NOTE: only 6 FL institutions participate in National Merit. Students can change their institution after being awarded National Merit (but student will have to pick one of the 6 schools as first choice)
- Talented Twenty Students receive priority
- To qualify for any need-based program, students must meet criteria to receive state aid; each grant is distributed differently according to institution student is attending.
- To be eligible, students must be citizens and FL residents, not be in default for a loan, and be enrolled in at least 12 credits (6 credits if attending 2 year school-not all pertain to 2 year colleges).
- Need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need, and are enrolled in eligible participating postsecondary institutions.
- Applicants must be first generation college students. A student is considered "first generation" if neither of the student's parents earned a college degree at the baccalaureate level or higher. A student who regularly resided with and received support from only one parent who did not earn a baccalaureate degree would also be eligible.
- Participating institutions determine application procedures, deadlines, student eligibility, and award amount.
- This program is available at Florida state universities and Florida colleges (public community colleges).
- The student will demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA in time to be processed error-free by the deadline specified by the institution. Applications may be obtained at the financial aid offices of eligible participating postsecondary institutions.
- Provides tuition assistance to Florida undergraduate students attending
- An eligible private, non-profit Florida college or university. Each participating institution determines application procedures, deadlines, and student eligibility.
- Need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need and are enrolled in participating postsecondary institutions.
- Florida Public Student Assistance Grant available to students who attend state universities and Florida colleges (public community colleges).
- The Florida Private Student Assistance Grant is available to students who attend eligible private, non-profit, four-year colleges and universities.
- The Florida Postsecondary Student Assistance Grant is available to students who attend eligible degree-granting private colleges and universities not eligible under the Florida Private Student Assistance Grant.
- Need-based program providing eligible Florida students work experiences. Each eligible and participating college/university determines application procedures, deadlines, student eligibility, and award amount.
- Provides tuition assistance to Florida undergraduate students enrolled in degree programs at eligible private Florida colleges or universities. The student must follow the application procedures established by the participating institution. Applications may be obtained at the financial aid offices of eligible Florida colleges and universities.
- Requirements:
- Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. A student’s residency and citizenship status are determined by the postsecondary institution. Questions regarding such status should be directed to the financial aid office or admissions office of the institution the student plans to attend.
- Not owe a repayment or be in default under any state or federal grant, loan, or scholarship program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made.
- Not have previously received a baccalaureate degree.
- Enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours per term, or the equivalent, at an eligible Florida college or university in a baccalaureate degree program.
- Meet Florida’s general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid.
- Not be enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree in theology or divinity.

- The José Martí Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund is a need-based merit scholarship that provides financial assistance to eligible students of Hispanic origin who will attend Florida public or eligible private institutions.
