We are the Cybears
Byron Robotics was founded in 2013 creating the CyBears, a high school FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC grades 9-12) team. Later on, with more funding and opportunities, Byron added FIRST® Lego League (FLL grades K-8) in 2014 and FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC grades 7-9) in 2016.
Inspiration
The CyBears focus on FIRST®'s ideals by teaching engineering as a thought process, empowering students interested in any career. Our crowning achievements are our student leaders, guiding other students, and exemplifying our ideals. FIRST® is a student leadership program, so these student leaders have several years of experience. Mentors are still involved, but take a backseat and help the student leaders whenever and wherever necessary. Mentors are often more knowledgeable, have more life experience, and can provide an arrow in the right direction if we get lost.
Education
Teaching other students the engineering process, STEM, and FIRST® core values provides them with the knowledge they can use in any career path. Creating future leaders, innovators, and engineers. Giving students the opportunity to grow not only their knowledge but also as members of our society.
Core value exercises are started when they are in FLL, teaching them collaboration skills. Starting students at a young age the FIRST® values make a very good impression on helping them with social skills.
Team Spirit
Whether it is a small win of parts perfectly fitting together or winning first place in a competition, our team has loads of spirit. From chanting our team name and number to jumping up and down we make sure everyone knows who we support. We work hard to make keep our team excited and our moral up. Keeping everyone engage at the same time.
