End of Year Artist Statement
See more on my final portfolio!
Since I was little I have always been interested in art. I dipped my toes in all sorts of different art forms like pottery, photography, oil painting, acrylics, and even a bit of charcoals, but most importantly I have been drawn into the digital arts. Since I got my first Ipad I have been making digital art. I drew my favorite characters and my family and pets as well as characters from books and movies. At the age of 12, I found a rinky dink animation software called Animation Desk that I poured hours into. I created sketchy animations of scenes in my favorite books and thought, maybe I could make movies of my favorite books, maybe I could make new shows and movies, maybe I could make the next lion king. Four years later, my goals haven’t changed. I'm thrilled to see 2D animation become more popular again, and I want to be part of this next generation of media.
Since then I have been creating much more refined art with a much more refined program called Procreate. I am able to make larger scale animations and higher quality drawings. I spend most of my time drawing characters and trying to find ways to make it interesting and dynamic. My animations have become nicer and more ambitious, and I really enjoy working on them. I still find myself drawing, and animating things that haven’t been officially drawn or animated before. I like to animate my characters, and characters from books. Having that creative freedom is everything to me, I enjoy creating spaces, and characters, and outfits, anything to make people more immersed in my art.
In the future I hope to attend early college in my senior year of high school. Following graduation, I hope to pursue secondary education in Animation and a career in animated arts. No matter what path I take, that passion for art will always be a part of me. Whether it is a drawing, photograph, or animation, I take pride in what I create and feel art running through my heart and soul.
