End of Year Artist Statement

I am a visual artist filled with random ideas and a loving passion for creating new things. You’ll find that most of my work consists of photography and graphic design. In my choice of pursuing art, I have taken influence from my family and friends, especially going back to my great-grandfather who was an architect. I was raised to value the act of creating, and whether that creative process be as large as a building or as simple as a photograph, making something out of nothing is a joyful process that is instinctual to my core.

I find art to be fascinating, especially with new technology and new methods. There is nothing more exciting to me than exploring and experimenting with artistic creativity, and most of my work represents that spontaneity of seeing where a creative endeavor takes me. When I set out to create a piece, I start with an idea and a rough visual form. However, this spontaneous spirit takes over and rarely ever does my final piece reflect what I had originally imagined. The evolution of each piece I create can be traced to my growing abilities with technology as I am constantly exploring new tricks and new capabilities that take hold of my process.

In my journey as a media artist, I’ve learned and grown through trial and error how to create better media to show not just family and friends, but everyone. I’ve grown to share out my work in new ways through social media and through new confidence in my creative products. Although I’m not sure where my journey as an artist or person will go from here, I do know that I will always find joy in creating and will seek new opportunities to express, capture, and create.
