For this project, we created more advanced typography art using clipping masks, type on a path tool, and type modification techniques. I used the typeface Bratsy Script to express The Beatles' most iconic album with lyrics, dates, names, and lots of details!
For this project, we created logos and banners to advertise our own media work with marketing-ready graphics! These were some of the designs I created that reflect my brand and my style as an artist; I've been considering the name Gem-N-Eye for my artwork!
For this project, we analyzed real magazine cover layouts and got all the necessary measurements to create mockups for our own versions of their cover art. After that, we did our own photography and design work to shoot photos and design our own cover story. My magazine is The New Yorker and I wanted to create an artistic, hand drawn look, that relates to current happenings in the world! This cover is celebrating the 2021 Lunar New Year, the year of the Bull.
For this project, we worked with a new Vermont band called “Griefcase.” They hired our class to make logo designs for their debut album and for t-shirts that they are printing out, so these were some of the designs I submitted. Since their musical influences were 1990’s and 2000’s rock bands, I did some research into the genre and made logos to match the feel of their alternative rock sound! Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/GriefcaseVT
For this project, we designed an event poster for a Higher Ground Show with a band or performer that we would love to go see! To do this, we had to create original assets and could only choose to use the artist’s logo or masked/manipulated photo if we wanted. Although this show isn't actually happening, it was good practice to explore graphic design for promotional posters. I made my poster for Of Montreal featuring some original graphics I made based on their photos in drag and lots of layers, manipulations, and visual effects!
This was a digital drawing I made in Photoshop as an extra credit original art piece. "Reality is less real than you think..."
For this project, we worked with a Boston-based photographer named Goldetron to help him develop a logo to define his visual identity. He shoots fine art photography including fashion, modeling, and landscapes, so we worked to develop graphics to showcase his style and brand! Check out his photography at https://www.goldetron.com/
For this project, we designed custom artwork to be placed on snowboards in honor of Vermont legend Jake Burton Carpenter. We showcased our design on mockups to showcase the 3D texture of the boards when printed out, and also used Photoshop to place our designs on snowboard action shots to see our work in action. I made a bunch of abstract designs for my boards!
For this project, we were hired by the Vermont chapter of Chicks In Bowls to design graphics for their organization that promotes quad roller skating and skateboarding for the female, trans, and non-binary community. We worked to make designs they could use on social media, t-shirts, stickers, and more to promote their brand and showcase the awesome activities they inspire!
For this project, we worked with a team of filmmakers from the Burlington area who were seeking a new logo for their business. Using the notes they gave us in the creative brief, we designed logos that could look sleek and professional and ready to be animated. These were some of the designs I shared, and check out their work at https://www.facebook.com/VariantVisuals/
For this project, we each got a fake business based on a real local business that we were tasked to make designs for. My business was La Rosa, a high-end boutique thrift shop that wanted to rebrand. To approach this project as a graphic designer, I analyzed my business by reading quotes and goals of theirs in a creative brief and then designed a 5-color scheme palette, collection of logo mockups, and a demonstration half-page advertisement to showcase how the business could make use of the visual brand I envisioned for them!
For this project, we worked with a new program at our partner school called Spaulding Educational Alternatives. We used input they provided on a design brief to offer some logo and graphic ideas that they can use when they open their new school campus. We are waiting to see which design they will pick to use on t-shirts, letterheads, stickers, their website, and more!
For this open-ended project, we showcased our knowledge of color theory to make our own color wheel where color drove the meaning behind our own original art piece. My color wheel features the artist’s primary and secondary colors and represents the color of one's mind spilling out, when one develops a crack.
This was our first time using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to make custom shapes. Using portrait photos as guides, we made cartoon versions of ourselves! We also printed these out as stickers.
For this one-day class challenge, we competed to make the most interesting and most eye-appealing can/package design for a product called MNDFL (like “mindful”), a fictional energy drink that offered a healthier, earth-conscious, and more sustainable product than other more “macho” energy drinks. After making several logo thumbnails, I chose my favorite design to make this mockup showcasing different flavors of how my branding would look on an actual product can!
For this project, we showed greater mastery of the Pen Tool to make a digital drawing graphic of a vehicle. Check out the before and after below!
For this project, we learned how to design a standard 5-color scheme palette that showcases a hex code, using Adobe Color. My color scheme is based on a sweet and sour (mostly sweet) kind of feeling.
This was our first ever graphic design project! For this design, we explored basic shapes in Adobe Illustrator to make a house with a for sign sale.
For this project, we learned about typography practices like kerning, tracking, leading, paragraph alignments, justification, and font families to make typography art. For my design, I made text art of The Avett Brother's song The Ballad of Love and Hate.
These are some favorite digital drawings and graphic design explorations I have made on my own beyond projects.
