Hi! My name is Julia and I'm a Junior from Twinfield Union School.
I love photography and photo editing, and I am excited to learn more about photography and all of our other units this year.
When I'm out of school, some of my favorite things are sports, helping out with my family farm, playing games on my PS4 with friends, and listening to music!
My all time favorite thing to do is travel. I have been to 2 other countries outside of the USA, they are Canada and the Bahamas. My favorite place I have ever been is the Grand Canyon. I also hold down a part-time job at the Shaw's in Montpelier and it's definitely a great place to work.
My goals for the year are to learn more about how to make my photos look nicer and to explore better angles and compositions for my imagery.
I also want to become the best graphic designer I can be to make more professional graphics.
This year, I have earned Industry Recognized Credentials in...
Adobe Certified Associate- Photoshop
Adobe Certified Associate- Illustrator
Adobe Certified Associate- Premiere Pro
Adobe Certified Professional- Visual Design
Adobe Certified Professional- Video Design

As an artist I think that art has always been a part of my life but has really flourished as I have found new ways to use hardware and software. Before studying art in a formal way, I really only did photography with just my phone and was not considering how tools could enhance my process; even items like tripods were not accentuating my products. As I have started studying media art formally, I have been able to improve my photography skills. It has been most rewarding to share these skills with clients and friends; one of my favorite projects was being able to do a photoshoot with a local rapper. I also really improved my graphic design skills; where I once had no idea where to start, I have learned that ideation is central to my visual thinking. Now I have a new appreciation for people who do graphic design full time as it was harder than I thought it was going to be. I think where I really flourished and grew is in videography. I enjoyed developing and producing videos that were related to me as I took inspiration from my own spirit.
I am most drawn to doing interview videography. I feel most comfortable leading subjects with interviews and conversations to help tell their story through visuals. I like learning about people’s history and how they ended up where they are now. When I create these videos I hope people will and can connect to them even in the slightest way. The most recent video that I produced allowed me to connect a lot with the story and I know others around the area connected with it as well.
I create because I continuously hope to have growth in what I do. The most meaningful part of making art is that it can be as personal to me as I want the piece to be. Reflecting on art is important because it tells you what you think about art. It allows you to understand what the art means to you and think of the artist's work. Inspiration for me comes from my animals that I have at home. They are always full of love in general but when I get down about a piece it feels even more special. The most important thing I learned from being honest is that art takes time and to not rush my work. I have noticed that is when I do my best work.
