Hope you enjoy looking though these and thanks for checking them out!
First project of the year, and the first time doing photography with something other than my phone. I enjoyed walking around outside finding anything and everything that could be a good photo! The first photo, that my wonderful classmate allowed me to take of her. Using Lightroom for the first time I wanted to make her look warm, and mysterious. I hope you all can see the growth in my photography skills throughout the year!
After learning about the exposure triangle we were tested to make the best use of it. Our challenge was to take our own macro photos, to make it almost seem as if you could feel the photo. This one was a challenge for me, trying to find objects with then and interesting textures. The ones you see below were chosen because they were suitable for my high standards for this project!
The first time we worked in Photoshop this year! I had so much excitement to do this project and the creative liberties I could take with it. I took a different approach with this idea, instead of just putting a bunch of photos on top of each-other, I wanted to create and entirely new piece of art with the photos I used. So I present to you "The bird with a pearl earring".
To create the illusion of clones of ourselves using photo manipulation. I didn't want to just have a few of me sitting in a room, I wanted to have an idea, a theme. I brainstormed for a minute and came up with using The seven sins as the theme. Each clone is a representation of each of the sins, can you guess who is who?
To use photo manipulation to create a magical levitation effect. By using a tripod and taking multiple shots of one scene and changing something about some photos. I decided to create this piece that I call "Magical Reading Corner". After creating the levitation I did some editing to make this appear even more magical.
We all created our own original piece using water color, it was a perfect opportunity to show my recent obsession with drawing animal skulls, so after creating my water color painting we used a high resolution scanner to work in photoshop. I didn't want to make my face the main subject so I hid it in the eye socket, like a secret.
For this project I worked with Olivia and Charlie to experiment with long exposure light effects. The three of us spent a lot of time in the studio, trying out different ideas and having fun with it. Trying to use the long exposure to help give the photos mood, emotion. It was a fun project to work on with others.
All of our class gathered in different parts of a pitch black theater, a perfect place to get creative. My group used the stage and used props we found to add some pizzazz to our photos, so we had a little tea party, a chicken, and a war.
I loved this project because we were given access to hundreds of awesome brushes in photoshop. Using layers, and doing some crazy things to out ohotos we were able to make some trippy effects with our photos. I have started to dissipate into the light rainbow.
With this open-ended projects we could get as creative as we wanted, as long as we made use of props. I wanted to play with the perspective in my photos. In film and photography my favorite things is first person perspectives, as if your looking out of another persons eyes. The first perspective is your tie being pulled on, someone dragging you away. The second one, using and old phone I did some small edits to in the spirit of Halloween!
This was a favorite from a series of portraits I shot; I titled this piece "Hidden in Fall."
When Photographers used film cameras they could create this effect called "double exposure" Since we use DSLR cameras we recreated this effect in photoshop. I created mine by using a portrait of my cousin and a photo of flowers I had taken. Creating what I call "Aubrey Garden."
Everyone knows what a GIF is (gif not "jif") and today we created our own! I used a stop motion technique I learned from a YouTube video forever ago and it came in handy for the effect I used to create this. A few photos of paper and a little editing and drawing in Photoshop, and I bring you "Paper Eye!"
For this project we recreated posters from famous movies starring ourselves and our classmates! We designed these as high quality documents using the full size billboard layouts. We had to create every element ourselves, so I decided to play to my strengths and make a digital drawing to recreate the iconic poster of the show Bones!
For this project we did a final studio portrait session where we shot portrait photos of a classmate themed on the four seasons in Vermont. We used outfits, props, sprays, gels, and advanced lighting setups to capture these looks. We also used portrait retouching techniques in Photoshop and Lightroom to edit and refine each portrait. These were my favorite shots from that series featuring Maca!
Title: The Warmth of Snow
Have you ever gone out after a day of snowing, the sun finally out from behind the sky full of grey clouds? You find and untouched patch of snow and lay on it, feeling the snow warm and melt around you and the sun spreads across your face. That's what I think of when someone says winter.
Title: Fall Depression
Fall is a wonderful season, as long as you ignore your seasonal depression. Some think of the warm golden light and the ground covered in crunchy colorful leaves, I see fall differently. Every day with a sky covered in dark, moody clouds. Rain that never seems to stop and sidewalks with wet slippery leaves plastered on them. It can be a bit depressing.
Title: Forest Nymph
This one uses bright lights and vibrant colors to bring about the feelings of summer, when the forests come to life.
