This collage was a process that I really enjoyed, it was my first real experience with photoshop and it taught me not only some technical aspects of photoshop, but introduced me to it as a medium for my art.
Learning to mask was a really tedious and slow activity, but learning to make art in photoshop was even harder. Drawing Mile's in the center was like learning to draw with my left hand. But as I continued I learned more, and came to really enjoy working in photoshop.
Into The Spider-verse is a movie that is important to me, it stresses finding your own way to do things. To find your style, and it really helped me realize that it's okay to not try and copy other people's style. But to settle into my own, I am really glad to be able to show my love this way.
For this project we recreated posters from famous movies starring ourselves and our classmates! We designed these as high quality documents using the full size billboard layouts. We had to create every element ourselves and could only import limited credited assets, so every layer of this design was something I shot or brought together! Big thanks to my classmates for helping act out the parts.
For this project we did a final studio portrait session where we shot portrait photos of a classmate themed on the four seasons in Vermont. We used outfits, props, sprays, gels, and advanced lighting setups to capture these looks. We also used portrait retouching techniques in Photoshop and Lightroom to edit and refine each portrait. These were my favorite shots from that series- the Winter and Fall shots with Maca as my subject!
This was our first project getting used to the DSLR camera's, I really enjoyed this project. It got me out of the house and exploring area's around me that I had previously avoided. These are some of my favorite photos from that day!
For this project, we learned about what it takes to do a double exposure edit.
Using Masks and layer styles we were able to create a look that makes it seem as if we took a photo over a photo.
I love this project and hope to employ similar tactics in the future.
For this project, we took old photos aged by time, and restored them while adding a modern colorized twist.
This project was one that made me think about time, what it meant to grow older, and the countless that came before me.
I really enjoyed this process, and would definitely do it again. Even just for fun!
This is a project where we learned the basic application of clipping masks through typography.
I am fond of puns and wanted to do something bright and fun. I might have also, just wanted soup.
For this project we grouped up to try our hands on some lighting standards.
We attempted, the butterfly, 45/Rembrandt, split, split with fill, and got to experiment.
This project was very fun for me, and I feel that I could recreate any of these looks now.
Continuing to explore light in the studio, we were challenged to make a middle gray backdrop into white, black, gray, and other colors using light.
To preview our upcoming studies in graphics and animation, we made GIF sequences in Photoshop using some photography and other graphics. Photoshop is perfect for making GIFs and cinemagraphs since you can create them like a video using a timeline!
I created this as a frame-by-frame animation of drawings onto the backdrop photo.
For this project we continued our exploration in masks, to make it appear as if there were multiple of us in the same location.
I had a lot of fun with this project, and while going back I would do things differently. I am still happy with how this turned out.
For this project I worked with Olivia and Hannah to experiment with long exposure light effects. Once we darkened the studio, we used our flashes and tripods to create these effects in camera, such as a manual double exposure where we flashed the lights multiple times or light trails to paint in light over time!
For this project, we worked with teams in a pitch black dark auditorium room to do some light painting. Using tripods and shutter speeds as slow as 20+ seconds, we created these light paintings by hand without any Photoshop or added effects.
These are some favorite photos I have shot beyond our class projects exploring composition and image making.
