This year was one of our biggest years of SkillsUSA Vermont participation ever with 14 students participating in five different contests! We are so proud of every student who took part in one of the contests-- you represented CVCC and DMA in all of the best ways. A special congratulations to the many DMA students who won medals for their work, including...
Charlie McCaffrey - GOLD in Advertising Design!
Galen Abel - BRONZE in Advertising Design!
Bryce Youk - SILVER in Photography!
Ty Thornton and Gino Masi as a Team - BRONZE in TV/Video Production!
Also, several DMA students supported our partners in the DMA2 program to make an original film in under 24 hours, and the DMA2 team created the gold winning film! Congratulations to Landon Flood and Elias Manriquez for winning GOLD in Digital Cinema Production, with additional support from Rowan Harple, Gino Masi, Felix Kadlec, and Aidan Salisbury! See the film below!
A huge congratulations to the many DMA students who passed rigorous certification exams to earn credentials as "Adobe Certified Associates" and "Adobe Certified Professionals" in some of our principle software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign, and After Effects! Several students earned Professional certifications by earning certificates in multiple connected softwares, such as design and video suites. Visit our Class Bio pages to see the badges and certifications earned by each student!
During our graphic design unit, we worked with the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence to create designs for the many organizations across the state that work to prevent relationship violence and promote healthy interpersonal skillsets. We specifically partnered with Mosaic, an organization based just down the street with us, to create posters and social media graphics that they could share out and use to enact social change.
After collaborative workshops in which students learned about their topics and explored ways to "call in" versus "calling out" as a method to communicate ideas through visual messaging, each student was hired to make a design about a topic under the umbrella of the Vermont Network mission.
Check out our graphics on the Vermont Network and Mosaic social media pages below!
A huge congratulations to Charlie who was awarded as one of Vermont's Honorable Mentions in the Presidential Scholar of the Arts awards, celebrated in January, 2022. See Charlie's work hanging now in the Capital Building in Montpelier, VT!
A huge congratulations to Cokie Seitz for winning the Photography contest in this year's 2021 Evolve Awards with her incredible photography/manipulation piece "Galaxies!" Sponsored by the Revolution Youth organization, Evolve is a creative media organization that holds an annual celebration of youth media creators for their skills and efforts. Cokie's piece was chosen by the Photography judges for it's incredible effects and adherence to portrait composition. Congratulations, Cokie!
We worked with a local organization called the Barre Partnership to capture photography and video clips from the City of Barre's annual Veteran's Day Parade and Commemoration Event. Check out the photos we captured below as we covered the media for the event!
During peak foliage season, we visited the town of Stowe to do some landscape and nature photography! Although we got caught in the rain, we got to explore some beautiful spots around Moss Glen Falls and the Bingham Nature area.
