Physics

A level physics gives students the opportunity to explore the phenomena of the universe and to look the theories that explain what is observed. The subject combines practical skills with theoretical ideas. Students learn about a wide range of topics from kinematics to cosmology and many recent developments in fascinating topics such as particle physics. It is an exciting subject in which new developments and discoveries are being made all of the time.

A level physics is a mix of highly conceptual thinking and very practical applications. Students need to be able to think about abstract ideas such as fields, and apply them to practical situations such as explaining how an electric motor works. Students will also develop their competence in using lab equipment to gain accurate and precise experimental results.

Physics is a highly mathematical subject and therefore, good maths skills are required. To compliment this, it is important that students also have excellent written communication skills.
