CTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science
More and more employers are looking for well qualified people to work within the fields of science, technology, engineering etc. The applied sciences offer a wide variety of careers, such as forensic scientist, drug researcher, science technician and many more.
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science is a vocational or work-related qualification. It will give you the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant if you go onto further study or into technician-related employment. You will have the opportunity to take 4 modules which combined enable you to gain the Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science.
Size and structure
· 360 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)
· Equivalent in size to one A Level.
· 4 units of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are external.
· Mandatory content (83%). External assessment (58%).
The course is designed for learners who are interested in learning about the sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in applied science. To be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
