These enable students to specialise in distinct areas of design and technology that reflect authentic practice, giving an insight into the way that creative, engineering and/or manufacturing industries function.
Work on a full range of original concept sketches and develop them using all types of modeling especially CAD, because it is very important to show you can use modern manufacturing techniques at A Level.
Pace yourself; start your NEA projects in May of year 12 and finish before Easter of year 13, otherwise you might rush certain sections and won’t be able to get as high a mark as you want.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, like using Resistant Materials in Textiles, but think about what you want to make thoroughly beforehand, if you choose your project on the spot without checking if it is feasible, you might regret it.
Go out of your way to attend exhibitions, industrial visits and get involved with leadership and extra-curricular opportunities.
Become really familiar with the ITERATIVE DESIGN PROCESS. You need to understand and demonstrate the benefits of this design strategy.
