Most tutorials have you writing code straight away, but we're going to do it a little differently.
Watch the video and you'll get a rapid introduction to the text based language of Python.
You'll learn to "read" before we ask you to "write" code. It's kind of terrifying to stare at a blank page and a blinking cursor with no idea what to type!
This covers a little of the basics so that when you see code you know how to step through it in your mind and have a pretty good chance of predicting what it does.
Warning: this is a pre-test! You are NOT expected to get all all the question right!!!
Scores of 3+ are GOOD.
Work through these problems.
Remember what you watched in the video:
Step through line by line in your mind.
Evaluate the conditions and step into them if the condition is true.
> Greater than < Less than == equal to
These ones have just variables, sequence, conditions (if...else) and print statements.
This is a video to help scratch programmers to transfer their knowledge of programming in Scratch into Python.
Follow along with Edublocks- a really cool editor where you can create block based code (like scratch but a little different) and immediately see the Python equivalent generated for you in the same project!
