3D modelling is used to shape many of the things we see in our everyday lives. From video games to architecture, we’ve all likely benefited from 3D modelling technology.
3D modelling is the process of creating three-dimensional representations of an object or a surface. 3D models are made within computer-based 3D modelling software, which we’ll explore a little later.
During the 3D modelling process, you can determine an object’s size, shape, and texture. The process works with points, lines, and polygons to create the 3D shapes within the software.

Laptop with no Numpad?
If you're on a laptop with no Numpad you can use the number keys above the letters by Enabling Number Pad Emulation:
From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
Click the Input tab.
Put a check mark next to Emulate Numpad.
Click Save User Settings to save the settings for the next time Blender opens. (might not be an option)
In this video we "trace" a hei matau- a traditional Maori fish hook, usually carved out of bone or pounamu.
You'll cover background images, editing vertices, edges and faces and we will end with changing the material and exporting a simple animation. All in 15 minutes!

use PNG if you have a transparent background
Drag your images from your computer into the images folder of your website code folder.
Change the link from "images/placeholder.png" to the file name of your image i.e images/catflower.jpg
Modify the alt tag to a brief description of image
Modify the <h5>What is this?</h5> to your own description
~ In Blender ~
1. Once your model is made.... In blender File->Export->gltf2.0
2. You need to name your file uniquely to run on the headset and the file format is .glb
e.g. spider_name.glb (spider_KatieW) or spider_student#.glb (spider_20123.glb)
~ Model into Software ~
1. Go to srcoder.pythonanywhere.com
2. Register an account for yourself on the website to manage your own models (so you can add and delete) otherwise if you already have an account, login.
3. Upload your .glb file
~ Using the Headset...... it is a bit more complicated! ~
4. Inside the VR headset, choose the "apps" the waffle icon.
5. Choose Filter on top right hand site of the apps window
6. Top right Click All and select "Unknown Sources" (at the bottm of list) from the dropdown
7. Run MyModelVR_2
8. It only checks the online database at the start so you have to close the app and re-run it if it's a recently uploaded model.
9. Touch the arrow buttons on the "console" using the hand the remote is in to cycle back and forward through all the models.
