Rangiora

The rangiora plant looks like a greeny small tree, kinda spiky and shiny on the top. The leaves of rangiora plant are large, tough and white and hairy underneath.

Rangiora was important to māori because they used it to wrap up hangi and even chewed it like bubblegum because it made your breath smell nice. They used the rangiora leaves to put on wounds and old ulcerated sores

It is also known as bushman’s toilet paper because they used the rangiora leaves to... you know what. They also used the leaves as paper to write on.

It’s not safe to eat the rangiora plant because it’s poisonous if swallowed.
