What do you Remember?

I’ve always found the concept of memories fascinating, especially how they evolve over time. The things we notice in retrospect are infinitely greater than those we notice in the moment.

A smell, a texture, a sound – even the slightest nudge can send your brain tumbling down memory lane. My portfolio focuses on the aftermath of processing painful memories. Each of my pieces is built on a memory: from eating ice cream to getting lost on a mountain, star gazing to childhood nicknames, my portfolio explores the way pain impacts the way I perceive the world. Once you snap back to reality – what do you remember? The smell of spring? The full moon lighting up the bright sky? The cool touch of the snow?

What I’ve realized while creating this portfolio is that there is no recipe for healing. No magic band-aid that mends any wound. Healing is painful and it takes time to process. But the way we choose to walk forward after suffering a tragic blow determines the impact the pain will have.
