Artist Statement: Before we moved to distance learning I had transitioned from a broad theme about climate change to some of the positive aspects and innovative things people are doing to help. I wanted my theme to be more positive and optimistic than just to point out all of the negative things about climate change. When we moved to distance learning I centered my theme more around COVID-19 and how it’s impacting the environment and us. Again, I wanted my theme to highlight positive things, so I focused my work on how the stay at home order was clearing skies and bodies of water and everyday things we now appreciate more.
