Wood Theory Part 1

Knowing wood and understand the characteristics of it is important to make wise choices in selecting the type of wood for the project you are working on. Availability and the aesthetics of wood are also important factors you need to consider when you work on a project.

Whāinga - Objectives

The objective of this section is to familiarize yourself with the different types of wood and man-made boards.

You need to complete the following objectives.

Summarizes wood theory by answering the questions regarding different groups of timber and how to distinguish between them.

3. Name the two groups that solid natural wood is divided in.

4. Explain how you will distinguish between them. Name at least three points.

5. Name eight man made boards.

6. Identify the characteristics of the eight common man made boards.
