Joinery makes or breaks a project. Generally, the more difficult the joint, the stronger it is. That's why woodworkers decide on the joints they'll use early on in the planning stages. Before starting with the project you will practice making all the joints.
The objective of year 10 wood technology class is to further you knowledge of Wood Joints that we will use in making projects.
You need to complete the following objectives.
Video links : All Year 9 joints, plus Mortise and Tenon, Miter Bridle Joint, Housing Joint and Finger Joint
To be able to identify each joint, to know the proper uses and how to make it in a safe manner.
1. Create a google slide covering all the joints.
2. The presentation will have a title, illustrations and bibliography.
Research - Look at videos of basic wood joints and websites to get a comprehensive knowledge of Basic Wood Joints commonly used in furniture making.
3. Peer assessment - When you feel the presentation is finished share it with another student that will give you feedback. Make sure you give them "view only" and open the comments function to them.
4. As a class we will select the best slideshow.
5. Upload presentation to your blog.
6. Extension:Produce your own video with Screencastify.(free Google app) and put it on your blog.
