Bear Essentials 16 – It’s a Whole New Ball Game

Experience one of Australia's most breathtaking natural wonders, only two hours from Sydney. Marvel at the forested and rocky topography of the Blue Mountains, breathe in its blue-hazed eucalyptus mist, enter the expansiveness of the Jenolan Caves and be charmed by the quaint villages along the way!

Along the way we pass through plenty of Sydney's rolling suburbs and people heading to their day at work.

We have a light breakfast stop 45 minutes into the trip.

Our first major stop will be at the breathtakingly beautiful "Three Sisters", with it's mountain high and valley low serenity and its historic tales based on "Aboriginal Dream Time" stories.

After crossing the valley on a Sky Gondola we head down to the bottom of the valley on an almost vertical train carriage.

At the bottom we walk around nature at its best, listening to the bird life, standing under towering trees, passing old mine shafts with the odd wildlife making its way past us.

We head back to the top on another Sky Gondola and head to the amazing "Zig Zag" rail. This old treasure is a historic part of the region that was renowned for its quarries and mining, this is a unique and special part of the trip with unexpected country side scenery reminiscent of Europe.

After building up a hearty appetite we head for lunch at the very quaint nearby town of Lithgow, again another old town that grew rich with the mining boom.

With a relaxing lunch over, we drive to Jenolan Caves a 45 minute escape to a magical place, yet another different part of this diverse and special part of Australia. Here you will have the chance to be taken through one of the discovered caves with a professional and informative guide that have so many stories to tell, or make your own way around and have a chance to see the open air Cathedral cave or the stunning blue lake, where you may be lucky enough to see a rare Platypus.

As late afternoon approaches, we start to make our way back to Sydney city and relax with some on board refreshments and hand out your special souvenir of your day with Planetdwellers.

With some luck we will be seeing plenty of Kangaroos and other wildlife making their way home as well.

We drop you off at our Sydney meeting point and hope you had a brilliant and memorable day with Planetdwellers.
