Adelaide - Equal Love Rally

Post date: Jul 26, 2011 9:28:12 PM

Equal Love Adelaide invites members of the Bear Men of Adelaide to participate in our August event:

Seven Year Itch - Scratch the Ban on Same-Sex Marriage!

The event is a public rally and march starting at the iconic Steps of Parliament House, North Terrace, Adelaide, on August 13th, 1pm - 3pm. Please see the attached flyer.

Equal Love is a nationwide campaign for same-sex marriage in Australia. As a group we aim to put pressure on the government to legislate for equal marriage rights. It has been seven years in August since the Australian government amended the Marriage Act to ban same sex marriage.

7 years of state-sanctioned homophobia is 7 too many!

We have a diverse range of speakers representing the LGBTIQQ community, school, university, union and church groups, as well as entertainers, including Australian singer/songwriter/producer, Mikki Ross, who will perform the Equal Love Song along with local singers and musicians. More info to come!

We need to send a clear message to the government that LOVE is LOVE! Discrimination in 2011 is not okay and will not be tolerated.

Already public opinion is on our side, and together we can turn a small majority of supporters into an overwhelming majority, forcing our politicians to listen and act.

Please, spread this message far and wide amongst your networks. Bring along a contingent of supporting friends, family and workmates, along with placards, banners and anything else that will help to show your support for equal rights. Feel free to print the flyer, pin it up at your workplace etc. and hand it out to everyone you know!

We hope to see you at the Parliament House Steps on August 13th at 1pm!

Best regards,

Katie
