Entry Event- Students brainstormed a list of character traits they believed were commonly associated with a god or supreme being
Process-
1) Students learned about the Greek gods and goddesses and the Greek mythology origin story.
2) As a class, we read several different myths and examined the characters and the theme of each story.
3) We also identified plot elements in each story.
4) Students revisted the brainstorming list created during our entry event and compared/contrasted the listed traits with those exhibited by the various gods and goddesses in the myths we read.
5) Students took a test on the Greek gods and goddesses.
6) They then chose a Greek god or goddess to portray, researched their choice, and put together group panel presentations (skits) that incorporated their research.
7) Students then prepared to write their own original myths: They used a graphic organizer to create their own gods or goddesses and map out the plot of their myths. They read and analyzed exemplars of myths written by former 8th graders and worked in editing pairs and small groups while crafting their own writing.
Project Milestones (Deadlines)- Final copies of myths were submitted on September 29, 2021
