Welcome! We have been learning about government, the need for rules and laws, and positive citizenship. Our PBL projects were designed to answer the question: "How can I become a good citizen?" Throughout the process of answering this question, students learned about positive citizenship from an authentic expert. Kim Learnard, candidate for mayor of Peachtree City, spoke to our second grade classes about ways to be a good citizen in their school community as well as the community beyond. Additionally, students created their own communities in our STEM lab. Lastly, students practiced good citizenship by cleaning up after themselves and others, and taking pride in their school. Students demonstrated what they learned and answered the driving question through skits, songs, and storyboard comics.
Lennox, Reagan, Camryn, Arwen, and Imani wrote and performed a song about being a good citizen.
Elijah, Yafet, Fiona, Dayani, and Tiffany wrote and performed a skit about how helping others in need makes one a good citizen.
Group 1 illustrated a school community using chalk.
Group 2 created a community using cups and straws.
Group 3 created a community using blocks.
Group 4 created a school community using cardboard and construction paper.
Please leave reflect on our PBL journey and products using the "I like, I wish, I wonder" protocol in the padlet below.
