How does weather impact us? As meteorologists, how can we prepare others for different kinds of weather?
We did a KWL chart as a class and these were the things we knew before learning about Weather.
Types of Weather:
rain
snow
sunny
stromy
cloudy
Hail can be big like a ball
Hard rain can knock down trees
It can be cold.
Season we knew was Fall.
Questions we came up with:
Why is it sunny one day and raining the next?
Why do we see the moon during the day time?
Where does the hail come from?
Why can it rain and still have the sun shining?
Why does it rain so much?
How can weather change?
Vocabulary:
Types of weather: sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy, precipitation, hail, snow, rain, fall, summer, spring, winter
Weather instruments: temperature, wind vane, rain gauge, thermometer, barometer, anemometer
Clouds- cumulus, cirrus, stratus
S1E1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate weather data to identify weather patterns.
MGSE1.MD.4 Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories
Entry Event: Silly Weather Recess ready
***Teachers dressed up to get ready for recess. Teachers grabbed their raincoats and umbrellas to go out for a nice sunny day. Students realized their teachers were not dressed appropriately and suggested what to wear instead based on what they knew about the weather.
Read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and predicted the weather using food!
