Uploading Your Finished Video to Google Drive
- UPLOAD
On your iPad, open iMovie. This should be where you have created your movie.
From the Projects pane select your STEM video and select the upload icon (a small rectangle with an arrow pointing up through it, center bottom of the screen.)
• Choose the “Google Drive” icon from the options.
• CHANGE THE FILE NAME. Touch the file name, change its name to "STEM-Project Title - Class name" i.e. if your project is Bouncing Bubbles and you are in 7-A your file name would be "STEM - Bouncing Bubbles 7-A"
Now you can touch UPLOAD in the top right corner and allow the video to upload to your Google Drive
The video will take a while to process, then upload. DO NOT close your iPad or go to another app until the entire process is done or you will have to start the upload over.
- SHARE
Open your Google Drive and find your video.
Select the 3 dots menu icon next to your video and choose Share.
Select "Who has access" and change it to "Anyone with the link" can VIEW
Now go back to the main Share page and find "Add people or groups"
Add susan.pierce@beehiveacademy.org as an Editor
Turn the video in to your science teacher the way they instruct you to.
What to try if your upload fails:
Don't close your iPad or navigate away while the upload is in progress.
Check your google drive. Sometimes it seems to have failed, but the video will be in your google drive anyway. Also, sometimes it takes some time to finish processing so check again after some time has passed.
Save the video to Photos, then try uploading it to google drive from inside Photos. Go to your video in iMovie, open the upload options again. Choose the 'save file' option. Wait for it to process and save. Go to your Photos app, find the new movie file and open it. Follow the same directions above for uploading and naming your movie. In Photos the upload icon is in the upper right corner.
