PLEASE NOTE: As of September 2021, due to changes in YouTube policy, student videos will no longer be uploaded to YouTube, except those chosen by the school to go on the school YouTube channel. You will be uploading your videos to Google Drive, sharing them to "Anyone with the link" and embedding this SHARED video in your Portfolio Website.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:
TITLE: A Title at the beginning: STEM - Title of Your Project
MATERIALS/SAFETY: List of the materials used and talk about any safety requirements
DEMONSTRATION: Show your project. Show lots of video of the cool stuff happening!
EXPLANATION: A complete explanation of why the STEM happens and what uses we have for this in our world. This is good practice for telling people what is happening when you demonstrate at the STEM Expo.
BEEHIVE LOGO/invite: Include the invitation provided at bit.ly/STEMLINKS at the end of your video with an invitation for viewers to come.
INSTRUCTIONS: Do your project and make your video of it working.
1. As soon as you have your materials, prepare to demonstrate.
If possible, do the demonstration to make sure you can make it work the way you think it should. If you have trouble, try doing more research to see if you can find a solution. You can also reach out to Mrs. Upenieks or Mrs. Pierce if you discover you need help. Don’t wait until the last minute.
If you are engineering or building something to demonstrate with, get it put together so that you can take some video of it working. REMEMBER: This is not a how-to video so you do not have to show how to put it together. You can put links to how-to videos you used in your website later if you like.
If you are doing something that takes a long time to happen, such as color changing flowers, or growing crystals, take time lapse video, or photos of it at various stages of change to use in your video.
When you write your script may depend on what your project is and how you film it, but at some point you should write down what you will say as you demonstrate your project. Instructions on what should go in your script are in "Write a Script" Remember that audio can be added later in iMovie as voice-over if necessary.
FILMING REQUIREMENTS: You must do these to get credit.
Wear your Beehive Uniform if you are visible.
Use the REAR camera on your iPad, it has much better resolution
Take the video widescreen (Landscape)
-- there should be no black bars to the sides of your finished video.
Time Limit: 1-3 minutes. NO more.
