Communicate Ideas: Makes accurate, specific observations about audience response and/or feedback, and proposes specific, targeted changes to communication choices.
During freshman year I was a part of the softball team and I learned many life lessons from my teammates and coaches. Sadly after Freshman year, I decided to quit softball based on the way I was treated by the coaches. While I had fun during my freshman year there were also a lot of struggles I faced. The girls on the team didn’t look like me and I wasn’t really included in any of the activities outside of practice and games. It hurt but I learned that not everyone will always like and that’s okay because later on in life I found my real friends. But at the same time, I didn’t really know how to communicate with my teammates without guilt-tripping them or being aggressive towards them based on the way I got treated.
This year during softball really taught me how not to communicate with others. Looking back on this year from the past made me realize that I also pushed myself away from my teammates which lead to me feeling left out and lonely on the bench because even when I tried to be the person the wanted to be I didn’t feel happy at all I felt like I was like someone else’s life that wasn’t mine. I learned that in order to make good relationships you also have to be able to communicate your feelings and who you are as a person so I feel like I would do this year over again if I had the chance but at the same time this experience wasn’t the best but it taught me valuable life lessons for the future and somehow looking back while doing these GPS documents they have all taught me a lesson I can carry on with for the rest of my life.
