Take Action: Reflects on the effectiveness and appropriateness of own actions and advocacy for improvement; describes outcomes of actions and makes note of implications for future action and advocacy.
During the sophomore year, all of us were tasked with coming up and asking an important question about our beliefs and then making a documentary about the question. The question my group and I chose was what is complicit corruption and we came up with many answers. Our main answer was broken promises, but then we also turned it around to say where’s our 8th? This project was very special to me and my team member Nadia because we have both been through different situations that have scared us from the past and this was a way to have our voice heard and represented in a special way that it could be remembered over and over again for people to watch no matter how old it gets it will still be there and still relevant in today’s society. In addition to this project, we were also tasked with finding these problems in two other countries that aren’t in the United States to recognize perspectives. But for my group, this was mainly about taking action and taking back all of the hurtful words that have been said to us in the past and saying this is a part of me and this is who I am and you can’t take that away from me or anyone else who has gone through the struggles because whatever those people say it just makes us stronger and shows who those people really are in the inside because that what matters more than what's on the outside.
This project was a lot of blood sweat and tears but in the end, it was worth it because it not only represents what I have gone through but what a whole community has gone through and is still going through to this day. So if I had to do this project again I wouldn’t change a thing about it other than waiting last minute to edit it but other than that I wouldn’t change anything because this was a way to take back the power that our community has gotten taken from us in the past even if it didn’t reach lots of people it still has meaning and a purpose and that's all that matters in the end.
