Investigate the World: Develops a position based on evidence from sources that considers multiple perspectives, and draws reasonable conclusions in response to a global question.
For this unit in History, we had to choose a group to research and represent in a certain way and I chose to research the immigration of Chinese and Chinatown. The way I choose to represent them is a diorama to capture what the city would have looked like and what would’ve been happening in the town square. This represents the ISSN goal “Investigate the World” because the task I was given was to research this certain minority and give a proper representation of them so I had to think about the traditional clothing they would wear what food they would eat what types of shops would be around, and what venders would be out. I also had to think about what the writing would look like and the decorations.
This project was very tedious but also very helpful in really making me recognize what this minority group was like after they migrated over here from China. If I were to do this project again I don’t think I would change the group or the way because the other groups I could choose from I knew a lot about but the minority group of Asians I didn’t because in school we never talk about that minority it’s mainly just about white and black people but thankfully Ms. Arganza broadened the class to focus on all the minority groups at least once throughout the school year. Ms. Arganza taught me many things throughout the school year even about my minority group that I didn’t know about so I will be forever grateful to her.
