Investigate the world: Selects and uses multiple international and domestic sources to identify relevant evidence that addresses a global question.
During this unit in freshman year, we had to research two different countries and see if they somehow had some of the same problems and were connected. My group and I choose to write about Chile and China. At first, we didn’t think that they would be connected at all but it turns out that they are because of the illegal fishing that China does. The ISSN goal “Investigate the World” ties to this project because my group and I chose to do a deep dive into these two countries trying to find out the most relative things happening right now that are affecting the world to do research on.
While writing this we had to think about what we see that relates back to our country as well but also what’s something that doesn’t affect us as much. So that is why we choose air pollution, illegal fishing, and climate control because the issues around air pollution and climate control relate to us every day but illegal fishing does not so much. This is one of my best pieces of work to represent my work throughout the year because it took two months to do and it made me look back in history look at now and see what these governments are doing and if they are planning on changing what’s going wrong in their country and the future because if nothing changes what will it be like in the future? If I were to do this project again I don't think I would change anything because I thought it was so interesting how countries that are twelve thousand miles apart are somehow connected and without this project, I wouldn’t have learned that.
