Communicate Ideas: Selects and applies appropriate resources, such as technology and media, to communicate and collaborate with a range of diverse individuals.
My first encounter with the International Friends Conversation Partner Program (IFCPP) was during my junior year, but we weren't able to fully create a project because to COVID-19 and international communication issues. Notwithstanding, I enrolled in the course during my senior year and had a lot easier ride throughout the duration of this project. For this lesson, we were charged with collaborating with students from all around the world to create a project that would lead to a fresh conclusion concerning a subject. My group mates and I decided to discuss how young adults can impact change in terms of climate change.
We decided to publish our findings through a website, which required sufficient research and heavily utilized graphic aspects to appeal to the public. To be honest, the communication element of the project was really difficult throughout the duration of the project. It was difficult to plan schedules to meet and discuss our project because everyone was in various time zones and had their own busy lives. However, I was able to learn a great deal about successful communication. This project is closely related to the "Communicate Ideas" ISSN domain since we are not only examining how individuals may impact change but also how we can communicate with others who may be of a different culture or reside in a different time zone through this research topic and presentation.
With the IFCPP projects that I have completed, I believe that my strengths as a JAGS student truly shone during this project since I had to properly engage with my group mates and guarantee that the project was finished to the level of work that was expected. Finally, despite my problems, I feel that this project improved my communication skills and that I am now more prepared for the future, where I will most likely engage with even more international students.
