Student Digital Portfolio

Our students will craft a digital portfolio over the course of their Career Academies experience with the lens of demonstrating their career, college and community readiness. This portfolio will be something they can utilize within Career Academies for mock interviews, industry mentor feedback, and their Senior Capstone course. They can also take it with them upon graduation for job applications and interviews.

Upon graduation, each student’s digital portfolio should contain the following components:

The goal is to build a culture where students are continually building their digital portfolios throughout all four years. Students should be encouraged to access their portfolios from home and outside of class time. Ultimately, they should see the portfolio as theirs and not as an assignment done only during specific times in school.

Parents may complete a form to opt out of their students being required to publish their portfolio, due to the private information included. Students are still expected to complete the portfolio components even if they have opted out of publishing.

Who can access the student portfolios?

Un-published portfolios are only accessible by that individual student and BCPS staff. Portfolios should not be published as a default.

How will students use the digital portfolio during high school? After high school?

The BCCHS Student Digital Portfolio Outline includes the full breakdown of how the development of the full portfolio is supported throughout a student’s high school career. To meet their goals, students should be contributing to their digital portfolio every semester.

Upon graduation, students will easily be able to export their digital portfolio to take it with them. This will provide a resource that can be utilized in college, their career, or community work.

What if I have other questions about Student Digital Portfolios?

How Students Access their Portfolios:

  1. Students access their portfolio through Google Drive. Upon logging into the computer, students choose the Google Chrome Browser.

  2. When in Google Chrome, students navigate to drive.google.com and select the personal “go to Google Drive” login access.

  3. Students log in with the following credentials:

    1. Username: (also found in student information on Skyward)

  1. Password: 8 digit birthday: MMDDYYYY

  1. In Google Drive, students find the “shared with me” section on the left hand side. In this section, they should see a file with a purple Icon, titled their first and last name. If students do not see the file, please have them use the search bar and type in their name.

  1. When the portfolio is located, right-click on the portfolio and select “add to my drive.” Students only have to add the portfolio to their drive one time and it will remain there.
