WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2023
WELCOME TO "GIVE ME FIVE"...
THIS IS WHERE I'LL GIVE YOU FIVE THINGS EACH WEEK THAT MAY BE HELPFUL TO YOU THE STAFF, THE STUDENT, OR THE PARENT. IT MAY BE INFORMATIVE OR REFLECTIVE. YOU MAY USE SOME OF IT TO HELP AT HOME OR IN THE CLASSROOM. SOME OF THE INFO MAY BE FOR YOU TO PLAN YOUR UPCOMING DAYS OR WEEKS. THE GOAL IS TO GIVE YOU AT LEAST ONE THING YOU CAN USE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE A BIT EASIER.

REFLECTION and THE WEEK AHEAD:
Staff, I sent an email to you on Friday with a link to complete regarding our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We need you to complete this by the end of the school day on Friday. It will give us an idea of your needs individually and the information we need to move forward with our PBIS plans for the year. The survey is anonymous and should be completed by all certified and classified staff (excluding cafeteria staff and bus drivers). I will be sending out staff-wide emails throughout the week to remind you to complete.
PBIS FOR EVERYONE -- BEAR PAWS:
This upcoming week, we want to be intentional about recognizing our students as they meet our BEARS Guidelines for Success. We'll discuss more at Morning Meeting on Monday, but we want to encourage EVERY staff member to recognize our students who are committed to the BEARS Pledge by being brave in there decisions, being encouraging, being appreciative, being responsible, or showing everyone dignity and respect. When you catch a student showing one of those character traits, we're going to ask you to give them a BEAR PAW (Positive Acknowledgement Whenever). It doesn't have to be given to the student at specified times. WHENEVER you see a Bear exhibiting our BEARS traits, whether it's in the classroom, in the hall, in the cafeteria, etc. fill it out and give to the student. They can return it to their homeroom teacher to be entered in our drawings for school-wide rewards at random times through out the week. Even if they are not chosen for random drawings, all BEAR PAWs will go into a big drawing at the end of the year.
**NOTE: this is not replacing our ongoing positive office referrals. It's just another way we are trying to recognize and reward students and staff**
We're looking for creative ways to reward students AND staff! If you have suggestions you would like to see as rewards, let myself or someone in the office know. We hope this a great way to provide Tier 1 supports for everyone involved. Our goal is to improve behavior and attendance with our PBIS efforts throughout the school year.

PBIS FOR EVERYONE:
The BEARS Guideline for Success is the foundation of our education process here at Park City Elementary. We can EVEN use it at home. Check back each week as we dig deeper with our BEARS Guideline for Success and connect it to PBIS as well. Make this part of your daily routine and expectations. Our students and staff start each day by stating the BEARS pledge during morning meeting.
Be Appreciative:
At school -- be a good listener; follow directions; say "please" and "thank you"
At home -- use your manners; wait your turn to watch on TV; complete your chores with a happy heart knowing you are doing your part to help

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
"If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
