REFLECTION and THE WEEK AHEAD:
We had a great week back from our SNOWcation. On Friday, we were able to recognize 70 students from K-6th for their efforts in earning Bear Paws. Continue to work hard to earn these to have the opportunity to be recognized and rewarded. Students were able to choose from extra essentials time OR lunch with their favorite staff members. Staff can expect an email early this week to let you know of our plan to reward these students.
Below, you will also see six of our staff members who were randomly drawn to receive a cupcake on Friday morning. Thank you to all of you that continue to push out our efforts to improve our school culture via our PBIS efforts. Be on the lookout soon for some more student AND staff recognitions.
PBIS FOR EVERYONE:
WHAT IS PBIS...
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.

The BEARS Guideline for Success is the foundation of our education process here at Park City Elementary. We can EVEN use it at home. Check back each week as we dig deeper with our BEARS Guideline for Success and connect it to PBIS as well. Make this part of your daily routine and expectations. Our students and staff start each day by stating the BEARS pledge during morning meeting.
Be Brave in Your Decisions:
At school -- follow instructions, walk at all times, keep your hands to yourself, stay on the bear paws in the hallway
At home -- be confident in what you do, choose video games that teach you something, stick with the task and finish it to the end, complete any assignments with 100% effort

SEL FOR EVERYONE:
WHAT IS SEL?
We define social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

Here's a video about KINDNESS: The Kindness Boomerang
Some questions to think about with the students after watching the video:
Name four acts of kindness you saw in this video.
What could you do to start a ripple effect of kindness?
