Where’s your dream place to live? For some, it may be nestled in the Rocky Mountains. For others, it might be oceanfront on the shores of Florida. For June Meehan, Badin sophomore, her dream location isn’t even located in this country; it’s in Europe. Meehan has had this dream for quite some time now.
“I’ve wanted to live in Europe since I was 12, because they don’t have ice in their drinks. Ice is annoying, it waters down your drink. Plus, their accents are amazing," Meehan said.
Meehan has traveled much of her beloved continent, but there are certain countries in particular that hold a special place in her heart.
Meehan said, “I went to Paris, and climbed to the top of the Eiffel Tower by foot. Then Germany, that was my favorite. I’ve always loved castles and they had those. I went to Switzerland and loved the mountains.”
However, if she had to pick one place to live right now, Meehan has one country in mind.
“Germany. It's so pretty, and it's cheaper than you would expect. Also, the drinking age is lower," Meehan said.
If given the opportunity, Meehan is convinced that she would pack up her bags and move to Germany right now, regardless of if her family and friends could join her.
Meehan said, “Of course I would move there now , I have my phone and I can call people. [Living in Germany] would be epic. I've been in Ohio forever, and I’ve known my friends for about a year, so our relationships are strong. Southwest Ohio gets boring, I’d like to try something new."
However, a more realistic timeline for the Badin sophomore’s move east across the Atlantic will most likely be a few years down the road.
“I would want to move to Germany fresh out of college, or perhaps study abroad. I would not want to become a citizen, just move around before I settle down," Meehan said.
