Badin has a lot of art electives that students can take, and people sometimes wonder who’s behind all these classes.
Badin has three art teachers which include: Mrs. Daniel, Mrs. McDulin, and Mr. Williams.
Mrs. Daniels and Mrs. McDulin teach more traditional art while Mr. Williams teaches photography, animation, and graphic design.
“I usually teach Art I, Art III, Art IV, Ap 2D Art & Design and Fashion Illustration. I moderate Badin Studio, an after school art club. I teach students a variety of media. I teach acrylic, oil, watercolor, printmaking, graphite, charcoal, marker, colored pencils, mixed-media, digital illustration,” Daniels said.
When art pieces are done they usually get displayed around the school, and get changed out into new art every few weeks.
“Art is ever evolving. Ideas I had in old sketchbooks still inspire me. I love to look at other's work, which also inspires my teaching. There are so many styles and techniques for an artist to explore. I love to write. I approach my art much like a story. I usually create very whimsical or narrative pieces,” Daniels said.
The art teachers have to come up with so many artistic ideas for the students to draw. They also let other students use their own creative ideas for their art.
“Teaching art at Badin has allowed me to share my passion. It has also allowed me to show students how to convey their ideas, beliefs and emotion through art. I love that I can move around the class and get to know students. I also love being able to share my faith and helping students share their talents for community outreach. It is why we are here after all, to share our talents and help each other. I enjoy demonstrating processes and having students ask questions and make suggestions. It gets me all jazzed up,” Daniels said.
Badin students have enjoyed all that has been offered to them.
“The best part of the Badin Art program is the variety that is offered. I don't know of many Private High Schools that offer as many art opportunities as Badin does,” Williams said.
With all of the art teachers and their creative ideas, it’s no wonder that students love the art program.
“I love working with a variety of very strong art departments, Mrs. McDulin and Mr. Williams. We each bring a strong and diverse perspective to teaching and to our program. We are each very passionate and can offer different skills to students,” Daniels said.
