Mysteries behind the Utah monolith have confused people for days. This apparent statue was found in Utah and keeps disappearing and showing up in other parts of the world.
The monolith was spotted in Utah on Nov. 18. The founders, Utah’s Public Safety Department, didn’t know why it was there or what exactly it was. The first conspiracy that came about was it had something to do with aliens.
“I don’t think it was aliens, but I think aliens exist. I feel like someone just placed it there to trick everybody,” said Sophomore Juliet Lowery.
Suddenly, the Utah monolith disappeared and showed up in Romania on Nov. 27. People were even more persistent that this was the work of aliens. There are even multiple memes created about this monolith. McDonald’s even took part in making memes.
“Welcome to McDonald’s what can I get you?” McDonald’s tweeted.
It came to a surprise when on Dec. 1 the Romania monolith also disappeared. The conspiracies just farther ensued that aliens were involved in this mystery, even though this could just be the work of artists or pranksters. Carrie Merhout, a sophomore, had a lot to say about it.
“I think it’s the work of pranksters because I don’t believe that aliens exist, even though it would be nice because I need more friends,” Carrie said.
Yesterday, Dec. 2, another monolith appeared; this time it’s in California. This is the third monolith, and probably not the last looking at the trends of the other's disappearances.
“I think there'll be more appearances and disappearances of these monoliths in the future. I hope one gets by Badin so we can be famous,” Carrie said.
