“Success is no accident.
It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice..."
~Soccer immortal Pelé~
In math class, "powering up" is all about practice. Setbacks, mistakes, and failures are all part of the journey of learning. Everybody goes through rough patches. The keys to successful learning are resilience, grit, dedication, and practice.
*Are you having trouble understanding some concepts in 8th grade math?
*Were you confused by something that we talked about in class?
*Are there specific 8th grade math standards that you struggled with on the last test?
*Would it help to have a concept re-explained to you?
*Looking for some extra practice to exercise those brain muscles?
*Searching for practice and review in preparation for an upcoming test?
*Are you ready to do some "powering up" in math?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, this "Power Up Zone" is the place for you! We've organized two resources to help you review, re-learn, and practice the various 8th grade math content standards.
KHAN ACADEMY ZONE
In this area, each 8th grade AMS essential math standard is matched up with corresponding Khan Academy resources (both tutorial videos and practice problems). Identify the standards that you are having trouble with (by looking at your Mastery Tracker in Google Classroom) and follow the links for that standard. Alternatively, go through them all for some extra practice. Couldn't hurt, right?
PRACTICE BY STANDARDS ZONE
In this area, each 8th grade essential math standard is matched up with the corresponding problems in the CPM textbook. If you want some extra practice on a particular standard, here you will find the problems in each chapter that address each particular topic. Identify the standards that you would like to do extra practice on and do those problems in the CPM text.
So, go on and get POWERED UP!
