OK, the "love" part was added just to get your attention. I knew it would... :)
To begin with, consider this:
* In the last 50 years, there have been extensive amounts of research done on how people learn. Additionally, advances in medical technology have allowed scientists greater and greater insight on how the brain works. The result is the onset of the greatest era of learning in history where cutting edge teaching methods are derived from the data gleaned from the incredible amounts of new research.
* As the world economy evolves and technology continues to advance by leaps and bounds, the demands of the job market are also changing. Where once math and writing skills were the most sought after employee attribute by Fortune 500 companies, the traits most in demand by today’s top companies are problem solving ability and teamwork skills. In this class, we strive to produce lifelong learners by equipping students with the tools to problem solve. We regularly collaborate with our classmates to share, exchange, and compare ideas.
In this space, we will post articles to spark discourse about issues relevant to math and learning in today’s world (and maybe love, too). The five categories that we'll be exploring are:
* Teaching
* Learning
* Our Class
* Math @ Home
* Technology
