Cypress’ Fletcher, Weber earn top CIF-SS honors

Cypress shortstop David Fletcher was chosen the CIF-Southern Section baseball player of the year in Division 2.
Fletcher, a senior who signed with Loyola Marymount, batted .437 and broke the school record for hits in a single season (52). He scored 38 runs and swiped 23 bases.
The shortstop committed just three errors in 139 chances.
John Weber of CIF-SS Division 2 champion Cypress was named the division’s coach of the year.

Jack Flaherty of Harvard-Westlake has been named the Southern Section Division 1 player of the year.
David Fletcher of Cypress was selected the Division 2 player of the year. Dominic Smith of Gardena Serra is the Division 3 player of the year. Phil Bickford of Oaks Christian is the Division 4 player of the year.

The Empire League MVP doubled as Cypress’ top hitter and fielder while leading the Centurions to the CIF-SS Division 2 championship. Fletcher batted .437 and broke the school record for hits in a career and single season (52). He scored 38 runs and swiped 23 bases and struck out just seven times all season. The dynamic shortstop was also on the short list of top defensive players in the county, committing just three errors in 139 chances. He has signed with Loyola Marymount.
