Principal's Message

We can hardly believe that 2023 is coming to an end. November was stellar as well celebrated our Veterans; we held our YES! conference for 5th grade students: celebrated our PRIDE assembly for Respect; and had another successful Book Fair event! We are looking forward to our Winter Sing-a-Long event in the month of December. December 5th is Disney Day and December 20th is Winter Cheer Day - Students can wear their festive hats, special winter sweaters, or dress in red and green.

Focus on Integrity 

Last month, we recognized students for showing “Respect” now we are focusing on Integrity. We define this as doing the right thing even when no one is watching. So many of our students show integrity everyday. Integrity looks like walking in the hallway; using the crosswalk; sitting in your assigned seat on the bus; staying on the correct side of the playground and following the rules of recess; taking the correct number of servings during breakfast and lunch; keeping your hands and feet to yourself; and of course flushing the toilet and washing your hands when using the restroom. 

Conference Details

December 5th-7th (Tuesday-Thursday), Ilalko will be hosting our annual parent-teacher conferences. 

We will be running on a three-hour late start schedule from 11:45 am -3:15 pm. We will be serving lunch on these days. 

Please note, there is NO SCHOOL on December 4th, this is a teacher work day.

Climate Survey - EES Family Survey

The CEE survey is completed every few years and measures the climate and culture of our school. This is your chance to share your voice about how we are doing in a variety of areas. We hope that you will take a few moments to complete the survey which is available in multiple languages. The deadline for completing the survey is December 8th.

Dressing for the Weather

We believe that it’s important for students to get outside as much as possible, for this reason we send kids outside for recess most of the time. Please send children to school in clothing that is appropriate for the weather, including if needed a change of socks or shoes, hats, gloves or mittens, and a warm coat. If you need help obtaining weather-appropriate clothing you can reach out to our family liaison Zoe Zdravka for assistance zdravka@auburn.wednet.edu. 

Collect Lost and Found Items 

Speaking of clothing, please check the lost and found for missing clothing items before winter break. Items can be found across from the office by the music room. Any items left over will be donated.

Changes to Recess  

After reviewing the strengths and challenges in our recess routines, we recently made changes to our recess zones and boundaries. These changes allow for a greater degree of supervision at recess times. Student still have access to the blacktop, big toy, and fields for sports at each recess. Students in grades K-2 will no longer be able to access the side of the playground with the rock wall and the Skyrunner toy - these items are rated for use by older students.

Nos cuesta creer que 2023 esté llegando a su fin. Noviembre fue estelar y también celebró a nuestros veteranos; celebramos nuestro ¡SÍ! conferencia para estudiantes de 5to grado: celebramos nuestra asamblea PRIDE por el Respeto; ¡Y tuvimos otro evento exitoso en la Feria del Libro! Esperamos con ansias nuestro evento Winter Sing-a-Long en el mes de diciembre. El 5 de diciembre es el Día de Disney y el 20 de diciembre es el Día de la alegría de invierno: los estudiantes pueden usar sus sombreros festivos, suéteres especiales de invierno o vestirse de rojo y verde.

Centrarse en la integridad

El mes pasado, reconocimos a los estudiantes por mostrar “Respeto” y ahora nos estamos enfocando en la Integridad. Definimos esto como hacer lo correcto incluso cuando nadie está mirando. Muchos de nuestros estudiantes muestran integridad todos los días. La integridad parece caminar por el pasillo; usando el paso de peatones; sentarse en su asiento asignado en el autobús; permanecer en el lado correcto del patio de recreo y seguir las reglas del recreo; tomar la cantidad correcta de porciones durante el desayuno y el almuerzo; manteniendo las manos y los pies quietos; y, por supuesto, tirar la cadena del inodoro y lavarse las manos cuando vaya al baño.

Del 5 al 7 de diciembre (martes a jueves), Ilalko será el anfitrión de nuestras conferencias anuales de padres y maestros.

Estaremos funcionando con un horario de inicio tardío de tres horas, de 11:45 a. m. a 3:15 p. m. Estos días serviremos el almuerzo.

Tenga en cuenta que hay NO HAY CLASES el 4 de diciembre, este es un día de trabajo docente.

Encuesta de Clima - Encuesta Familiar EES

El encuesta CEE se completa cada pocos años y mide el clima y la cultura de nuestra escuela. Esta es su oportunidad de compartir su voz sobre cómo nos desempeñamos en una variedad de áreas. Esperamos que se tome unos minutos para completar la encuesta, que está disponible en varios idiomas. La fecha límite para completar la encuesta es el 8 de diciembre.

Vestirse para el clima

Creemos que es importante que los estudiantes salgan al aire libre tanto como sea posible, por esta razón enviamos a los niños afuera durante el recreo la mayor parte del tiempo. Por favor envíe a los niños a la escuela con ropa adecuada para el clima, incluido, si es necesario, un cambio de calcetines o zapatos, gorros, guantes o manoplas y un abrigo abrigado. Recoge objetos perdidos y encontrados

Hablando de ropa, revise los objetos perdidos y encontrados en busca de prendas faltantes antes de las vacaciones de invierno. Los artículos se pueden encontrar frente a la oficina, junto a la sala de música.Cualquier artículo sobrante será donado.

Cambios al recreo

Después de revisar las fortalezas y desafíos en nuestras rutinas de recreo, recientemente hicimos cambios en nuestras zonas y límites de recreo. Estos cambios permiten un mayor grado de supervisión en los momentos de recreo. Los estudiantes todavía tienen acceso al asfalto, a los juguetes grandes y a los campos para deportes en cada recreo. Los estudiantes en los grados K-2 ya no podrán acceder al lado del patio de recreo con la pared de roca y el juguete Skyrunner; estos artículos están clasificados para ser utilizados por estudiantes mayores.
