Leads professional learning to cultivate broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in a digital age (e.g. critical thinking, information, literacy, digital citizenship, technology competencies, etc.)
The LMS provides and/or facilitates professional development
Personalized professional learning is provided to the staff of the School District of Athens in many ways.
A CESA 10 mentor is used to support Google products. He is considered an Instructional Coach that comes to the district when needed. The LMS and this Instructional Coach are in contact most every week to make the schedule as seamless as possible. This mentor is also available through email and phone to help our staff and is used.
Schoology (Learning Management System) training and training for other licenses are provided to new staff in a small group setting.
This LMS and both technology support persons work one-on-one to solve questions that may arise with programs and hard-wired technology concerns. This varies from day to day and week to week, depending on the needs of the staff. This past year, a "Technology Help Ticket" was added so staff could get the most immediate assistance possible.
The Athens1.org website has an area to find our CESA 10 mentor's tech tips. It also has an area for "how-to" instructions on a variety of technology topics.
Professional Development is provided to the whole School District of Athens staff at either 1 or 2 Professional Development Days--depending on current needs.
Format to provide professional development (ex. Large Group, Mentoring, Coaching, Online)
A survey was given to all teaching staff this past spring. The staff choices highly included all on-demand resources from our website, one-on-one instruction, email support, and professional development days.
Identification of professional learning needs of staff related to technology and information literacy resources and tools
This is done through anecdotal notes through the LMS and technology support. Most of this identification is on a one-on-one basis. Updates on licensed sites go through email to get to the appropriate staff.
Professional development on strategies for encouraging discovery, analysis, creation, and presentation of learning
The Professional Development Days for technology concentrate time on new ideas in discovery, analysis, creation, and the presentation of learning. The technology information that is provided to staff is geared towards the current needs of the staff as a whole, and/or broken down into building levels.
