These resources can help with the design process from the conceptualization and review of the program for coherence to the course syllabi design and development.
Curriculum design involves identifying the intended outcomes and planning the course sequence. This includes reviewing or defining all relevant information that goes into planning the curriculum, such as near and aspirational peers, domains of knowledge, skills, or dispositions for the field or discipline, and target learners’ characteristics. It also involves reviewing the alignment of that curriculum for coherence between what is intended and what gets designed, communicated, and enacted.
Syllabus design involves the planning of the course from start to finish with a focus on designing an experience that supports the development of mastery of specific and measurable student learning outcomes (SLOs) through the design of assessment strategies, identification of learning materials, and organization of the course content.
Course design involves creating all of the content, directions, learning materials, etc. which were planned out in the course syllabus as well as planning for how you will establish an inclusive community for students that support their learning and development once the course launches.
