Dr. Laura Atkinson is a clinical assistant professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teacher's College (MLFTC). Prior to joining the MLFTC faculty, she served as the coordinator of the Urban Professional Learning Schools Initiative (UPLSI) master’s program at ASU and assisted in the curriculum development of the program. Dr. Atkinson spent over a decade teaching general and special education, and served as the director of an $8.5 million grant at Mississippi State University (ACHIEVE Mississippi). Additionally, Dr. Atkinson coordinated an accelerated, immersion teacher certification program and supervised student teachers. In her current role in MLFTC, Dr. Atkinson teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in education.
Wendy Peia Oakes is an associate professor at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. Her work focuses on practices that improve educational access and outcomes for young children with and at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders in the context of a Comprehensive, Integrated, Three-tiered (Ci3T) model of prevention; the implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions; and professional development for preservice and in-service educators in implementing practices with fidelity. Dr. Oakes serves as an associate editor for Remedial and Special Education, the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, Behavioral Disorders, and as co-editor for an annual special issue of Education and Treatment of Children. She served as the president of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)–Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders and currently serves as the vice president for the CEC- Division for Research.
