Dr. Wendt received her Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Innovation in May 2014. Her research interests and publications have focused on minority male retention in higher education. She presents nationally on serving under-represented students and is a published author. She has over a decade of experience in higher education teaching psychology, sociology, counseling and education courses both at the graduate and undergraduate level. Her early work was as an early childhood educator and practitioner with children with special needs serving them and their families. Additionally, she has experience in secondary education as well.
At Arizona State University she worked in Educational Outreach Student Success at ASU in the Office of Student & Cultural and International Engagement. Her work focused on diversity, culture and student success for domestic and international students. She was a contributing member of the “Global Allies & Global Guides” training and program while in that role.
She then joined the Mary Lou Fulton Teacher's College (MLFTC) as a faculty member in 2016 teaching educational psychology courses and more recently focusing on incoming freshmen students with foundational courses in education. Dr. Wendt was the faculty director for the MLFTC Study Abroad Program taking students to study in Costa Rica. She has experience with this also in Belize, with a previous college. Her interests include the continuation of a holistic approach to student development, diversity, achievement, and success.
