Across a class session, intentionally provide more than one way for students to participate.
Students might:
Think — write, sketch, annotate, reflect
Talk — partner, small group, whole group
Respond — poll, shared document, sticky note, chat
Ask — pose a question, identify confusion, request clarification
Choose — select a prompt, example, role, or response format
You don't need to offer every option in every class. Instead, look across several class meetings and ask whether students regularly encounter different pathways into participation.
Reflect:
Which students seem to benefit from different participation structures? Who may still have limited ways into the learning?
