Belonging by Design is an instructional framework that supports undergraduate educator preparation faculty in intentionally cultivating belonging through explicit instruction in professional skills. Rather than assuming teamwork develops naturally through group work, the framework helps instructors assess classroom needs, make intentional instructional decisions, select evidence-informed resources, and reflect on the impact of those decisions.

While teamwork serves as the initial focus of this research, the larger goal is to help faculty create learning environments where future teachers experience connection, competence, contribution, and ultimately a stronger sense of belonging within the profession.

About This Website

This website serves as both the home of the Belonging by Design framework and the living repository for my action research dissertation. Rather than organizing the work by course assignments or dissertation chapters, the site is organized around the questions, principles, design decisions, research decisions, and evidence that inform the framework. As the research evolves, so will the framework.
