Over the last four weeks both teams were introduced to this year's FIRST Lego League Explore Challenge: Cargo Connect! The theme this year was cargo due to the supply chain problems that started at the beginning of the pandemic and have continued throughout.
Students learned about types of vehicles which transport cargo and built a cargo truck as well as designed and built a cargo bearing vehicle of their own creation. The teams learned about sorting centers and the essential role they play in the supply chain. As well, students automated a fan and a robot that would drive to and from the sorting center.
As students are now working in larger teams of 6, they have begun to learn about different team roles as well as the importance of documentation. Checkout the gif shown above created by one of our students on the Monday/Friday team!
The team's next steps will be to build an automated sorting center and begin to identify problems in the supply chain and brainstorm an innovative solution for that problem.
