What we are Learning This Week
Math: Ms. Shell
This week we are wrapping up our Unit on Place Value Relationships. Students will take a test Thursday 9/24. The study guide is linked, and also posted to Google Classroom. We are focusing on how to regroup and rename numbers prior to the test. If you see a number like 45,000 and think about the amount of hundreds it has, you may think it has zero hundreds because there is a zero in the hundreds place. However, when we think deeply about that, we should realize thousands and ten-thousands are made up of hundreds! Students should recognize that there are 450 hundredreds in the number 45,000. How many tens would that be? How many one thousands is that made up of? Students will look for the patterns that emerge!
45,000 ones = 45,000
4,500 tens = 45,000
450 hundreds = 45,000
45 one thousands = 45,000
